Plain English. No surprises.

What we collect

  • Account info, only if you register — email address, hashed password, optional display name, optional state / county / ZIP. You can use the entire site without an account; registration is only required for personalized alerts.
  • Notification preferences — which alert types you opted in to and any push-subscription token your browser issues.
  • Feedback you submit — your message and the name + email you choose to include. Optional fields stay optional.
  • Incident reports you submit — the location, category, description, and any photo you attach. These appear publicly the moment you submit them.
  • Aggregate page views — every page load sends an anonymous record (site, path, referrer, screen size, timestamp) to a first-party endpoint on luna.modelotech.com. There is no per-user identifier in this payload and no cookie. It exists so we can see which pages are being read and where traffic comes from.
  • Server logs — standard web-server access logs (IP, time, path, status). Rotated. Not joined to your account.

What we don't collect

  • No Google Analytics, Facebook pixel, Mixpanel, Amplitude, Hotjar, Segment, or any third-party tracker.
  • No advertising identifiers and no ad targeting. BallotPulse runs no ads of any kind.
  • No behavioral profile of you. We don't build a propensity model, an engagement score, a churn predictor, a "next-best-action" recommender, or anything similar. None of that exists in the database schema or the code.
  • No call to OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, or any other LLM vendor with your personally identifying information.
  • No session-replay tools (FullStory, LogRocket, etc.).

What we do with it

  • Your account info is used to log you in and send the alerts you asked for.
  • Aggregate page views show us which pages are useful. The data never leaves Modelo Tech's own infrastructure and is never sold or licensed.
  • Incident reports are displayed publicly on BallotPulse so other voters can see them.
  • Feedback is read by the team and used to fix bugs and prioritize features.
  • We don't sell any of this. We don't license it. We don't share it with brokers.

Deleting your data

Email [email protected] with the subject line "delete my account" and we'll remove your row from the users table within 7 days. If you submitted an incident report you want taken down, include the report URL.

Nonpartisan posture

BallotPulse aggregates voting-rule data from official government sources. We don't tell you how to vote. We don't profile you to surface partisan content. The site shows the same information to every visitor.

Changes

If we ever change this policy in a way that affects what we collect, the change date will be updated below and noted on the home page.
