Constitutional Convention Question
Plain-English Summary
Michigan voters will decide whether to hold a constitutional convention, a process that allows delegates to propose broad changes to the state constitution. The state constitution requires this question to be presented to voters every 16 years. If approved, delegates would be elected to review and potentially revise any of the constitution's 12 articles.
What each outcome does
If Proposal 1 passes, Michigan will hold a constitutional convention where elected delegates can propose amendments to any part of the state constitution. Any proposed amendments would then be presented to voters for final approval.
If Proposal 1 fails, Michigan will not hold a constitutional convention, and the state constitution will remain unchanged unless amended through other processes, such as ballot initiatives.
