Suffolk County Legislative Term Length Extension

This measure extends the term length for Suffolk County legislators from two to four years. It also modifies the county's 12-year term limit law to allow a legislator who reaches their 12th year mid-term to complete that term.

What each outcome does

IF YES PASSES

If Proposition 2 passes, Suffolk County legislators will serve four-year terms instead of two-year terms, and the 12-year term limit will be adjusted to allow completion of a term if the limit is reached mid-term.

IF NO PASSES

If Proposition 2 fails, Suffolk County legislators will continue to serve two-year terms, and the existing 12-year term limit rules will remain unchanged.
